Music Theory: Paper 6 - Triple time
Hello kids, mums and dads! 😃
You have now finished Theory Papers 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. This week we will get you ready for PAPER 6. This time, Dani gives explains the key points to understand triple time 📝
🎶 Last week Sunita told us about F and G. This week's paper introduces us to a new kind of note. A dotted minim.
A dot after a note increases its length by half. So if a minim lasts 2 beats, a dotted minim will last 3, because:
The half of a minim, which has 2 beats, is 1.
2 + 1 = 3 Don't worry! Dani will guide you through. If you still need some help, write to us on our blog and we will happily help you on your way to learn your musical theory. So let's get started! 👍
For this week's theory lesson we will learn:
PAGE 1:
Exercise 1: Draw dotted minims.
Exercise 2: Write the number of beats on each note.
Exercise 3: Sum up how many beats each of the notes have in each bar.
PAGE 2:
Exercise 4 and 5: Follow the video instructions about time signatures.
PAGE 3:
Exercise 6: If you don't remember how to draw the different notes on the staff, please look at the diagrams on the top of the page in previous papers. 🎹
Exercise 7: Tick if correct. Cross if wrong.
Exercise 8: Match the image to its description. Simply draw a line between them.
PAGE 4:
Exercise 9 and 10: Follow the video instructions about time signatures to add the bar lines. Also add the fingering for each note. If you can't remember, please check previous papers.
Well done! You have finished Paper 6! 👍
